Ambassador Shindo’s visit to Akita Prefecture in Japan

From 12-13 June 2025, Ambassador Shindo visited Akita City, Akita Prefecture in Japan. In Akita City, he paid a courtesy call on Governor Suzuki of Akita Prefecture and Mayor Numaya of Akita City, and visited Akita University and Akita Prefectural University.

The commonality that Akita Prefecture and Botswana are both rich in mineral resources has connected each other for many years. Academic exchanges on mineral resources brought Akita University to establish their offices in BIUST and University of Botswana. Akita Prefectural University is also pursuing an academic exchange agreement with BUAN.

In addition to academic exchanges, JET Programme dispatches Batswana to Akita Prefecture as Assistant Language Teachers, which fosters exchange among youths.
