Hon. Dr. Unity Dow in Japan

Hon. Dr. Unity Dow, Minister of International Affairs and Cooperation, who is attending TICAD7 in Yokohama, Japan, held today a bilateral meeting with Mr. Taro Kono, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan.
Mr. Kono expressed his pleasure at seeing her again and wished that he would achieve success in TICAD7 together with Hon. Dr. Dow and further strengthen the ties between the two countries. Mr. Kono also expressed his expectations of further improved environment for investment in Botswana and his intention of assisting Botswana in its digital migration effort based on the Integrated Services Digital Broadcasting Terrestrial (ISDB-T) standard adopted by Botswana. He also said that Japan would promote cooperation in the sector of natural mineral resources through activities of Japan Oil, Gas and Metals National Corporation (JOGMEC) and contribute to human resources development in Botswana.
Hon. Dr. Dow expressed her desire for investment by Japanese companies in Botswana. She appreciated the assistance from Japan and hoped that personal exchanges between the two countries through personal training projects among others will lead to a future increase in investment activity in Botswana.
The two Ministers discussed issues of multilateral cooperation including the United Nations Security Council reform.
